Sam ulmer-krol

Hello fellow MRU staff! My name is Sam Ulmer-Krol (he/his), and I am one of your two Vice Presidents. I also work as the Academic Programming & Student Advisor for the School of Communication Studies.

I started full-time at MRU in 2019. Before this, I worked as a casual employee while completing my Masters Degree, and before that I graduated from MRU’s BA program. My history with MRU dates as far back as the kindergarten program, and it has been eye-opening to grow up alongside this campus.

I am an incredibly food-motivated person. All of my travel and destinations usually revolve around sampling local cuisine. I fulfilled a childhood dream last year by visiting New Orleans purely for the food. To this day, I still have occasional dreams of beignets. I run a weekly tabletop roleplaying game group with some of my oldest friends (think Dungeons & Dragons), my favourite hobby is trying new recipes and cooking techniques, and when I am not in Calgary I am often visiting my partner in North Carolina. The trick is getting him to brave the colder weather up here to visit me in Canada!
